Breakups are hard. And no matter your relationship length or depth, breakups hurt. As Irvine matchmakers with over 30 years in the business of love, we know there is no arguing that. And perhaps that’s why it is often difficult to see the signs a relationship is over – because who wants to recognize the pain that about to come their way?

Is it over? Is the love gone?

We all live in this area of denial. You are in a relationship, but it isn’t what it used to be. Maybe you make excuses about work or stress, but deep down you know the relationship is over. All you have to do is admit it to yourself, then to your partner.

We do not blame you for sitting back and not wanting to take action in this situation. It’s not easy to admit that your relationship is over, and it’s even harder to be the one to put an end to it and break your partner’s heart. But from experience, we can tell you that is better to rip the Band-aid off now rather than later.

The longer you wait to end the relationship, especially once you’ve seen the warning signs that it’s over, the worse things will be – for you and your partner.

Today, our Irvine matchmakers here at Orange County Singles Dating Service are going to show you the telltale warning signs your relationship is over.

1. You’re more like roommates than lovers.

This can happen in a lot of long-term relationships, especially if you live together. You may discuss bills, dinner, and what to watch on TV, but it doesn’t go beyond that. In fact, it’s more like you’re roommates instead of lovers.

A romantic relationship should add more to your life than this. And if it’s not, then it’s either time to bring the spark back or go your separate ways.

2. You’d rather spend time with anyone else or all alone than be with them.

When you are in a happy relationship, you want to spend time with your partner. You’re excited for date nights. But if things are nearing the end, you may be looking forward to seeing friends more than you look forward to seeing your partner. On top of that, you may find yourself preferring to spend time alone.

We all have those moments in our relationships, but if this is happening more often than not, it could be as sign your relationship is over.

3. You don’t bother arguing.

This is something we have seen in just about every relationship that has come to an end. Instead of fighting, you both give in and just let things go. This may sound healthy but discussing your problems and opening up is key for a happy and healthy relationship. You have to be able to talk about and resolve conflicts or you’re not going to make it very far in life or this relationship.

4. You argue all the time.

Constantly arguing can be a sign of a stressful situation. Maybe one of you lost your job or is going through something very difficult in life. But if your partner’s arguments are nonsense or they’re constantly bickering about the laundry rather than important things you want to work on, it is a sign you’re both on your last leg. If you can’t handle the tough times together and give each other love and support when you need it, needless to say, it’s not going to work.

5. The relationship feels more like work.

A relationship is work. No one ever said a being in a relationship was easy. But the good times and happy days should be worth the effort. If they’re not, or the bad times outweigh the good, it is a sign your relationship is over.

So how many of these warning signs do you see in your relationship? Is it over, or is there still a chance to save it?
